Japanese James Bond Film Posters
Japanese James Bond Movie Posters, with their distinctive, almost futuristic style against the traditional hand-drawn illustration and calligraphy, remain highly collectible. Featuring the different 007 incarnations throughout the decades, played by Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

The most common size for a Japanese movie poster is the B2 (approx. 20 x 29 inches), though some titles were printed in the larger, rarer B1 (approx. 29 x 40 inches) format and also the Tatekan (2 sheet - approx. 20 x 57 inches).
Traditionally, the designers of Japanese film posters were anonymous because they worked for distributors and followed their promotional direction, adhering to the studio's guidelines, over individual artistic expression.
James Bond has always been hugely popular in Japan. Ian Fleming wrote his eleventh James Bond novel (albeit the fifth film), You Only Live Twice, inspired by his visits to Japan in 1959 and 1962. With the Shimabara brothel district and the Nijo Jinya in Kyoto, inspiring Bond's adventure. 007’s popularity was cemented and intensified when YOLT was filmed in the country in 1966.
The most valuable Japanese film posters tend to be the first releases of the early, Sean Connery Bonds, along with the rarer format and styles.
