A wonderfully lively original Polish Cyrk poster from 1970, designed by the celebrated artist Waldemar Swierzy. The composition is filled with beautifully stylised circus horses and riders, arranged across a vivid red background with repeated Cyrk lettering. Playful, elegant and full of rhythm, it captures the spectacle of an equestrian circus act with unmistakable Polish graphic flair.
Polish Cyrk posters are among the most collectable areas of post-war poster design. Created for the state circus, they gave artists remarkable freedom to move beyond conventional advertising and produce bold, imaginative images. The best examples are humorous, surreal, painterly and instantly decorative.
Waldemar Swierzy was one of the great figures of the Polish poster school, admired for his expressive drawing, confident colour and ability to give commercial subjects a strong artistic identity. This delightful design shows his lightness of touch perfectly.
This vintage film poster is sized 26 1/8 x 38 inches. It will be sent rolled (unframed).
