A beautifully sharp original Bally advertising poster from c1980, created to promote the brand’s golf shoes. Large, elegant and quietly surreal, the design pairs a finely rendered brown leather golf shoe with sweeping architectural line-work, delicate birds, a rose and bold Bally typography. It is luxury sportswear seen through an artistic lens: polished, witty and seriously stylish.
Founded in Switzerland in 1851, Bally became known for refined footwear, fine leather craftsmanship and sophisticated advertising. By the late 20th century, its posters had become far more than product promotion, often using celebrated artists to turn shoes into collectable graphic statements.
This design is by Roger Bezombes, the French painter, printmaker and poster artist known for imaginative, poetic compositions. Here, his crisp technical lines suggest precision and movement, while the birds and rose add charm, humour and a touch of fantasy. A superb blend of sport, fashion and art.
This vintage advertising poster has been professionally linen-backed and is sized an impressive 45 3/4 x 66 3/4 inches (plus a little more with the linen). It will be sent rolled (unframed).
