A beautifully sharp original Bally advertising poster from c1980, created to promote the brand’s golf shoes. A finely rendered brown leather shoe sits among sweeping architectural lines, delicate birds, a rose and bold Bally type — part luxury fashion advert, part surreal design piece. Smart, elegant and full of quiet wit.
Founded in Switzerland in 1851, Bally became famous for refined footwear, fine leather craftsmanship and sophisticated advertising. By the late 20th century, its posters were more than product promotion: they were collectable graphic artworks in their own right.
The design is by Roger Bezombes, the French painter, printmaker and poster artist known for imaginative, poetic compositions. Here, his technical line-work hints at precision and movement, while the birds and rose add a playful, unexpected twist. A stylish blend of sport, fashion and art.
This vintage advertising poster has been professionally linen-backed and is sized an impressive 46 1/2 x 66 3/4 inches (plus a little more with the linen). It will be sent rolled (unframed).
