Beverly Hills Cop 1985 Polish Film Poster, Kalkus Maciej

This original 1985 Polish poster for Beverly Hills Cop is a striking and highly collectible example of Eastern European film design at its most inventive. Far removed from the standard international campaign, it reimagines the film with bold colour, sharp angles and an unmistakably graphic, poster-led sensibility that gives it a character all of its own.

Released in 1984, Beverly Hills Cop became one of the defining action-comedies of the decade. With Eddie Murphy in star-making form as the quick-witted Detroit detective Axel Foley, the film combined action, humour and attitude in a way that made it an instant classic and a major box office success.

What makes this poster especially appealing is its distinctly Polish approach. Polish film posters are celebrated for their originality, often using illustration and metaphor rather than straightforward studio imagery, and that creative freedom gives them a unique place in poster history. Here, artist Maciej Kalkus delivers a design that feels dynamic, stylised and unmistakably of its period, while still capturing the energy and swagger of the film.

Rare, eye-catching and full of graphic impact. Unusually, smaller in size than most Polish posters of this time.

This vintage movie poster was originally folded (as issued) but has been stored flat a long time and the single fold line barely noticeable. It is sized 18 1/2 x 25 1/4 inches and will be sent rolled.
