A super stylish original German film poster for Bullitt, Peter Yates’ ice-cool 1968 crime thriller starring Steve McQueen at his most iconic. Sharp, stripped-back and effortlessly tough, this is one of the great screen-cop films, famous for its mood, its jazz-inflected Lalo Schifrin score and that legendary San Francisco car chase.
The German design is pure late-60s graphic cool. McQueen is reduced to a stark black-and-white silhouette, set against bold vertical bars and moody blue-and-red photographic panels. It feels slick, modern and a little dangerous — exactly right for Bullitt’s urban, anti-glamour edge.
The poster is signed Scharl, with the design leaning into the crisp, editorial style German film posters did so well in the 1960s: clean typography, strong contrast and smart use of negative space. A brilliant piece for McQueen fans, design collectors and anyone who likes their cinema posters with serious attitude.
This original vintage movie poster is sized 23 1/4 x 33 inches and will be sent rolled (unframed)
