King Kong R1950s French African Film Poster

A fantastic original French African poster for King Kong, produced for a 1950s re-release of the ultimate monster movie. Kong looms large over the city, Fay Wray below, New York in peril — all wrapped in bold French typography and full vintage adventure drama.

First released in 1933, King Kong was directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack and became an instant cinema myth. Fay Wray, Robert Armstrong and Bruce Cabot star in the story of the giant ape taken from Skull Island to New York, a film that still hits hard for its spectacle, atmosphere and groundbreaking effects.

French posters often gave Hollywood classics their own fresh regional flavour, and this one has bags of charm. Dramatic, decorative and full of old-school monster-movie magic, it is a brilliant international take on one of cinema’s greatest icons.

This vintage film poster was folded (as issued) and has been professionally linen-backed. It is sized 39 1/2 x 53 1/2 inches (plus a little more with the linen-backing) and will be sent rolled (unframed).
