The Ladykillers 1955 Swedish Film Poster

A wonderfully bold original Swedish film poster for The Ladykillers, the classic Ealing comedy starring Alec Guinness. The design has a strong mid-century graphic feel, with green and yellow colour, stylised portraits and Swedish title treatment giving the film a distinctive local identity. It is a very appealing example of Scandinavian film poster design for one of Britain's most beloved black comedies. A very rare and collectible poster.

Released in 1955, The Ladykillers was directed by Alexander Mackendrick for Ealing Studios. The film follows a gang of criminals who pose as musicians while planning a robbery from the home of an unsuspecting elderly landlady, only to find their perfect plan increasingly undone by her innocence and determination. Its dark wit, brilliant ensemble cast and offbeat tone have made it a landmark of British comedy.
