Zwiedzajcie Warszawa Zoo 1967 Polish Poster, Waldemar Swierzy

A superb original 1967 Polish poster for Warsaw Zoo, designed by Waldemar Swierzy. The design is wonderfully bold and unusual, with the strong graphic hippo and lettering to create a poster that is both playful and powerful. A very striking poster with lovely colours.

Polish posters from the post-war period are celebrated for their originality, painterly invention and ability to turn public information, culture and advertising into distinctive works of graphic art. Rather than relying on photographic realism, Polish designers often used wit, abstraction and expressive illustration to create memorable images.

Waldemar Swierzy was one of the leading figures of the Polish School of Posters, known for his painterly touch, brilliant compositions and bold use of colour and character. Much of such is evident in this wonderful design.

This vintage film poster is sized 26 1/4 x 38 1/4 inches. It will be sent rolled (unframed).
