Modern Times is Chaplin's great machine-age comedy: the Little Tramp caught in factory gears, feeding machines and the frantic rhythm of modern life. Released in 1936, it is both hilarious slapstick and one of cinema's sharpest critiques of industrial progress.

French artist Leo Kouper was a celebrated interpreter of Chaplin, and his Swedish re-release design gives the Tramp a loose, expressive graphic energy. Smart, funny and instantly iconic.
