Bath 1960 British Railway Travel Poster, Eric Fraser

A wonderfully stylish slice of Bath history. Eric Fraser’s 1960 British Railways poster looks back to 1828, when the new steam carriage linked London and Bath, turning the city’s Regency streets into a beautifully staged piece of transport theatre.

Fraser fills the scene with top hats, elegant dress, classical architecture and the magnificent red Royal Patent coach, all rendered in his crisp, economical graphic style. The muted turquoise, cream, red and brown palette gives it real period charm without ever feeling fussy.

A superb example of British railway advertising at its best: clever, decorative and packed with detail, with Bath’s Georgian elegance meeting the excitement of early steam travel.

This original poster is sized approx. 25 x 40 inches. It will be sent rolled (unframed).
